adorable camping adventure with Katherine + Mike

So Katherine is one of my oldest friends and I love her dearly. You know when she is around there will be a good time – and that she will always be late!! We met back at Mississippi State while both of us were studying photography under the strict Marita Gootee. We had a lot of good times together, she was even a bridesmaid in my wedding. And now it is her turn to get married to the wonderful Mike!! Who I have just really gotten to know and I think they are a pretty good pair. I know that Mike has to be one of the most patient people because Katherine sure is a hand full!! But they are so sweet together. Recently they moved to Athens so we decided to meet in the middle of no where Georgia at Hamburg State Park and do a camping photo shoot. They met while out on a camping adventure. I am so excited about their wedding! I can’t wait to see Mike in his three piece suit and bow tie and all the amazing details that Katherine is putting together.

Love you guys!! Go check out some of Katherine’s work here.

Mike’s Grandma made this quilt! Love it..

Mike likes his marshmallow’s totally black!

Katherine + Mike = Fruitcakes!!

Matthew + Rolldog

Okay I just love this picture of Matthew and Rolldog!! While out camping for our photo shoot with Katherine and Mike I looked over and thought they looked adorable! The Ranger at Hamburg State Park told us there were alligators in the water and that dogs were like prime rib to them. So Matthew and Rollin were on the look out for them. Too cute!! Needless to say no one saw any of them..

Cake + Pictures

I just love this write up on me!! It’s just so cute!! Thanks to all the guys at Cake + Pictures!

love is in the air- Savannah Wedding: Steve + Tyler

Steve and Tyler are adorable and showered each other with love and kisses as soon as they saw each other. When Tyler was getting dressed she wanted everything to be perfect. Even if that meant bringing out the ruler and measuring her wedding dress length!! She stayed perfectly calm until they shut the door and it was just her and her dad seconds before she walked down the aisle. But with a little love from her dad she was able to stop the tears. During the ceremony Steve and Tyler had two Crape Murtles at the alter. They met while working for Habitat for Humanity and this was their way to give back as well as celebrate. The trees were later donated to Habitat for Humanity.  After the ceremony we headed around down town. They knew they loved the aesthetics of the historic district and the mansion but wanted to mix it up a little as well. I just love these smaller intimate weddings. 16 people joined them for their big day. Everyone gets to know everybody!! and you can feel the love and warmth of the families as they bond. I wish you two the absolute best!! and hope you have many years of working together and donating your time to others in need.

A special thanks to the amazing Marianne McBay of Wed Accompli, A to Zinnias, Kristin King from New Arts Ensembles, and The Mansion for creating such a beautiful event!!

a journey through time in Detroit: Khalil and Ashley Um’rani

I was very excited about Khalil and Ashley’s wedding. We had been talking for some time before we figured out all the details but I was excited to know that one of my fine art images gave Ashley some ideas for her wedding. (thanks to a walk into Shop Scad while they were in Savannah visiting)  Then after we talked we both knew we had to have the other one!! Ashley’s wedding ideas started with following the Great Migration, which celebrated southern relatives moving north in search of their freedom. They had many vintage pieces in the details along with traditional African decorations, pictures, old bottles, and cotton. Along with some amazing Chanel shoes Ashley was wearing!! They also celebrated with a watermelon drink and southern styled food. Then ended the night down in the basement set up like a Speakeasy with a special outfit change from Ashley and where they danced the night away!! Khalil and Ashley were married in the Historic Little Rock Baptist Church and had their reception at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American Arts. The ceremony was a mixture of Khalil’s and Ashley’s islamic and baptist beliefs.

Special thanks to Brandi at B. Young Always for doing the bridesmaids make-up.

It takes a little help from everyone!!

How Cute is He!!

I just loved the girls adorable giggles!!

I found this wall while driving around Detroit. Having never been to Detroit I found the city fascinating. You have this mix of beautiful abandoned buildings and art work along the sides of them. This one was painted by the youth of Detroit.

So interesting!! I definitely want to go back and spend time photographing the interesting mix of art in the city.

Yummy!!

I just love her hair piece!

Bridal Shower- The French Knot

One of my beautiful brides, Andrea, invited me to enjoy her Stitching Luncheon which was in one of my new favorite stores- The French Knot. I could live in there!! Just beautiful and I love Audrey, the owner! French Knot offers a unique experience for brides to celebrate their special day with their close friends and family.  Local bride and artist, Andrea, took the opportunity to have her friends and bridesmaids make some adorable hair pieces and embroider the table numbers for the reception while eating, drinking and being merry. Audrey also made this amazing limeade champagne drink! Yummy!!

All the Supplies.

The Adorable Audrey giving us instructions!

Andrea telling us what she wants all of us to make.

My handy work!! Table 6 might get a lot of attention at her wedding!!

Our 5th Anniversary!!

July 2 was our Fifth Anniversary!! I can’t believe it has been five years and we can’t wait for another 50 to come. I love you Matthew very much!! To celebrate we went to Ele for the first time and had some yummy sushi!! Then we spent the next day cleaning the house- how romantic!! But we have both been so busy it was nice to do something together. So we have a bunch of new plants out on the porch. It has been an amazing weekend and we can’t wait to really celebrate when we head to Montreal for three weeks in August!! Yahoo.. we will hopefully be beating the Savannah heat!

Special thanks to Sarah from The Small Object who made us this adorable cake topper with our family on it. I love that the doggies have there own cameras and I have no idea where she found the smallest box of film- too cute!
